This is what happened several years ago when I was teaching Japanese Tea Ceremony to my friends. We often got together and spent a couple of hours just to talk about many things but not so sophisticated. One day we ended up to make those hours more creative, and we decided to have Japanese Tea Ceremony lessons from me who happened to be a licensed trainer. So we had started the lessons with 4 - 5 people to experience the joy of Tea Ceremony.
A few months later a scene shook my faith. One of my trainees for whom it was the first time to take Tea Ceremony lessons from anybody, was serving the tea as if I was there sitting and serving the tea. She was sitting in front of the teapot breathing as same rhythm as I was. I seemed like I was seeing myself in front of me. I still clearly remember how much her Otemae; serving tea overwhelmed me.
I have realized then the real meaning of "To Covey" from this incident.
Up to that moment I was thinking the meaning of "to convey" as passing mostly tangible things such as material things, and/or financial matter to somebody. However this incident gave me the clear image of "to convey" that was completely different from that I had before. It is more like intangible asset of mine. Many tangible things would be faded away eventually.
My mother unfortunately had past away 4-years ago so that I cannot share the time with her anymore to receive her assets however I am positive that I had succeeded lots of her assets, which are now passing to my daughter.
The fact of that the human beings have been evolving and growing over millions of years receiving their ancestor's assets and passing to their next generations is touching me. Now I often think of what I had received from ancestors and also what I want and need to convey to the future.
My name is ABETOMO.
I will write my column about what I feel, I think, I wonder, I successfully made and/or failed.@
